The concept of agritourism is considered in various forms related to tourism and rural development. It is often known as farm based tourism or rural tourism. The meaning of agritourism is related to farming activities performed on the farm or in other agricultural environments.
Agritourism has been proposed as an alternative solution to severe economic depression in rural areas. It has been a good means of sustainable development for rural communities. Agritourism activities are activities that are tourism oriented which are directly related to agriculture environment, crops and farm stays. It helps in generating income for the owner on a micro-economic level which helps in contributing to the country’s GDP on a macro level. It helps in providing job opportunities and increases income of local residents.
It also helps to improve the environment and enhance quality of life for both the farmers and consumers .The main purposes of agritourism are to attract new customers to farm, inform people about farming and improve the quality of life of farmers.
