“Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.”
We are very lucky that we were born in a country which is a land of religions, a land of customs.
India is a country which is the land of sages, and saints. India is such a country where rituals are performed with very pomp and show, Festival of Phool Dei is one among them.
The festival of Phool Dei is celebrated in the Garhwal and Kumaun regions of Uttarakhand every year in the flowering season (March-April) for about a month. Children, particularly young girls, go into farms, forests and gardens after bathing and collect fresh flowers to offer to the local deities as a welcome gesture for the onset of spring season.
In this occasion young children collect some flowers and place them in doorsteps of everyone’s home. They also sing the song of Phool Dei, Chamma Dei, Deno Dwar, Bhur Bhakar, Vo Dei Sei Namashkar, Puje Dwar.” In return, they are presented with blessings and gifts like sweets, jaggery, and money.
