Peace cannot exist without justice, justice cannot exist without fairness, fairness cannot exist without development, development cannot exist without democracy, democracy cannot exist without respect for the identity and worth of cultures and peoples.
Indian constitution is one of the largest constitutions in the world. Today I want to tell u something about our parliament.
The foundation stone of the Parliament House was laid on 12 February 1921 by His Highness the Duke of Connaught. The construction of this building took six years and its inauguration ceremony was organized by the Governor General of India Lord Irwin on January 18, 1927. Its construction cost Rs was 83 lakh.
The Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India. Our Parliament consists of the president and the two houses the house of the people and the council of states. The president has the right to summon and prorogue meeting of either house of parliament or to dissolved the Lok Sabha.
The constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950. The first general elections under the new constitutions took place during 1951- 1952 and the first general election was held in April 1952.

The formation of the Loksabha is under Article 81.
Rajya Sabha
The Rajya sabha is the upper house of the parliament. It has not more than 250 members. Members of Rajya sabha are not directly elected by the people but indirectly elected by the legislative assemblies of different states, each states has been allotted of fixed number of members.
No member of Rajya sabha can be less than 30 years of age. 12 members of Rajya sabha are nominated by the president with special knowledge or practical experience in respect of literature, science, arts and social service . Rajya sabha is a permanent body for the purpose of its functioning. It does not dissolve, but one third of its members retire every two years. The Rajya sabha was constituted for the first time in a meeting which was held on 13th May that year .
Lok Sabha
The lok Sabha is the body of the representatives of the people. Its members are generally elected once every five years by adults with direct voting franchise. The minimum qualifying age for the members of the house is 25 years. The present numbers of member of the lok sabha is 545 .
